projects
We have many excellent projects we are proud of, here is some of our recent work.
Twin Victorian
Project Brief:
Loft and rear extensions to 2 adjacent Victorian terraces as well as timber garden pavilion.

Process:
The loft and rear extension maximised the use of lightweight timber framing to minimise the impact on the existing building as well as embodied carbon speed of construction benefits.
The garden pavilion partially sunken into the ground to minimise its visual impact is designed with a high GGBS concrete base, hybrid steel/timber superstructure, and topographically optimised timber trusses which maximise space while minimising material use.
The Inn
Project Brief:
An ancient timber frame Grade II listed public house had been significantly damaged by alteration and weathering. The building had to be made safe and restored using traditional techniques while keeping as much of the ancient fabric as possible.

Process:
Several specialist site surveys and analytical methods were used to assess the damage and identify what could be kept, what needed remediating, and what needed to be replaced.
The Triangle
Project Brief:
Loft extension with partial chimney removal and lower ground updates.

Process:
Traditional 3 beam loft conversion heavily optimised with genetic algorithm resulting in highly material efficient structure with a SCORS A++ embodied carbon rating.
Surrey Hills
Project Brief:
3 Bespoke timber frame houses with loft floor of traditional construction with steel portal frames.

Process:
Complex intersecting roof slopes designed with steel frames only in large span areas, ashlar walls used structurally throughout to maximise headroom and minimise timber quantity.
The Willows
Project Brief:
Loft and rear extensions to post war residential building.

Process:
Modification and extensions to an existing small loft extension which had a significantly compromised layout. The existing structure was reused where possible and the space maximised, converting the floor from 1 small room to multiple rooms and improving clear heights. The ground floor was significantly opened up with a box frame including a rear extension.
Surgeons
Project Brief:
Loft extension and internal remodelling of a large residential property in North London.

Process:
Unusual solution where required due to heritage requirements for retained items and the large spans required. The design utilised steel A-frames and hidden columns to economise on material, working closely with the Contractor to maximise buildability.
